akAfter all, this group is going to be smaller. Zoli reports that several people are presenting law suits againts Facebook; among others are: ConnectU, Aaron J. Greenspan, Pete Cashmore and even Sridhar Vembu whose claim is based on the “Zuckerberg mind-reading contraption to literally steal the idea from my brain.”

Once, I worked hard on the concept of a middleware product and developing it. When I was almost finished a partner came to my office and asked me to explain the concept fully. Then he suggested a couple of additions to the product and offered his help to so I could patent the product.

We met with the patent lawyers and then I saw it clearly: Not only did my partner want to be part of the invention but he also suggested making a patent for the architecture rather than the product alone.

When I asked, “Why the architecture?”, he told me the story of windshield wipers. A guy received royalties from every producer just because he entered the concept at the patent office.

There are people who live, looking for these “opportunities” :
- a wet floor in a supermarket
- a car running, with the keys in it
- Facebook and every other successful concept.

The solution must come from legal reform to prevent these opportunistic people from taking advantage of things they have no right to. Unfortunately, you didn’t have the same luck, charisma, intelligence and resources that Mark Zuckerberg had at the time. The product must not be an idea or a dream.
